I keep forgetting about this separate news page. Things are progressing well with the field guide: we now have a cover and a publication date (April 3, 2012). We’ve seen the manuscript twice more since my last update – once to approve/correct the copyedits, and once to make some final adjustments for length. Layout comes next – once the pages are all put together, we’ll be seeing it all again. Can’t wait!

I forgot a step for the moth guide – before it reaches composition, it goes through copyediting. This is where the copyeditor combs the manuscript to make sure that everything is consistent from front cover to back. The last couple of weeks we’ve been working with our copyeditor to correct any details she catches. From there it will go on to composition.

The PFG moth guide manuscript heads off to the composition (layout) department today! We’ve been promised the preliminary pages for review, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing them. I’ll inquire about posting an actual sample here.
