We’re still waiting for our internet hookup to be installed at our new house. We’ve had a bit of run-around and mix-up with the company, but hope that it’s sorted out now. We don’t yet have a date when things will be up and running, but hope it will be soon!
I’ve been at my parents’ this weekend for a belated Father’s Day, and am taking advantage of their internet to take care of a number of emails and other web-errands I’m falling behind on. Unfortunately, no time for any real blogging. With any luck I should have a chance to do up a proper post on Wednesday. Look for my return then!
Today’s photos were taken at Rock Ridge on our visit last weekend (just prior to our move). These are of a spectacular Broad-winged Hawk that just happened to fly into one of our nets as Dan was approaching to check it – if it had been even five minutes sooner, or five minutes later, there’s a pretty good chance we wouldn’t’ve had the chance to see this beauty up close, as big birds like this rarely stay caught for long (they can pretty much just fall right out). This species breeds in the forests around our study area in small numbers. Dan wrote more over at the project’s blog, Frontenac Birds.
Hope y’all get you Net hookup squared away soon.
Fantastic hawk photos.
Gorgeous photos of a spectacular bird!
Hope you’re back online soon.
…oh! What a beautiful bird, and the photo looking down on him in flight is fantastic!
